Name a show more savage than Showtime At The Apollo? I’ll wait. For those of you without a clue, The Apollo filmed amateur nights for decades, where contestants performed in front of an audience. If they were great people cheered. If they were horrid, they were booed and kicked off staged viciously by a clown called Sandman. Sandman would literally use props, his actual feet, anything to give you the boot. No one was spared, not even children. You ever see a six year old singing their hearts out while a packed theatre booed them? It was ruthless. I watched the way one does an accident, it breaks your heart, yet you can’t look away.
