The painter and the pop star didn’t date for long, but their talent makes them an iconic power couple. A romance in 1982 that ended with Madonna leaving, because of Basquiat’s heroin addiction. This relationship is just another reason Madonna will always reign supreme over Lady Gaga. Sorry not sorry.
Madonna is a sex symbol. She bagged men and stole Sandra Bernhardt’s girlfriend. An innovator, Madonna subverted pop stardom, dating, luxuriating, working and breaking the rules the way male rockstars do. In fact I don’t think any female has ever been as brazen. She’s not played it safe and didn’t need substances to be so bold. Songs about abortion, virginity and using men for money, her music has already proven to be timeless, like the phases of her style. Not to mention she was out in the trenches with the LGBTQ community when AIDS was a death sentence. Never once abandoning them, despite how nebulous the transmission of the disease was. Madonna was an advocate through their darkest time, seemingly risking her own health. Lady Gaga has gotten this far due to extreme witchcraft, black magic specifically. Hence there was that group saying she wasn’t going to make it, and Lana Del Rey along with everyone else in the NYC scene were perplexed by her stardom. In “So Legit” the “Born To Die” singer openly states Gaga was a laughingstock. Madonna didn’t need meat dress gimmicks, pretty people privilege was enough. She is one of the last superstars.
