(S)He Had Today

Believing herself to be buried, I assured my friend of fifteen plus years she’s really being planted. That everything happens for a reason and to be on a long break from the person you love most, without knowing if they’d return, aches now but will lead to a brighter future.

“I think you’re going through a dark night of soul, it rips the floor from under you, to bring you closer to god by doing spiritual work. You’re too focused on the material, you define yourself by the external, your friends, your job, who you’re dating what you’re doing, but who are you when it all falls away?”

I won’t go into the details of her situation, but long story short she wanted her love back. Watching him date someone else revealed she’d taken him for granted. When he voiced his concerns she heard him, but didn’t listen until she lost him. I pushed her into doing spiritual work after letting her fall apart.

Do yoga to release the negative energy you pick up throughout the day from others and your environment. Even if it’s in addition to other workout routines.
Meditate to listen to your soul, the answers will come to you. Control your mind.
Pray for what you want. Talk to god. Be specific.
Self-care: skin routines, baths, journal, get pampered and glammed, get a massage. Value yourself to attract others who value you.
Set boundaries. Stop being there for people who aren’t there for you.
Own your shit, this is your karma, acknowledge that you did the same thing to somebody else.
Right your wrongs, apologize to those you’ve hurt. Dismantle your ego.
Focus on the intention, are you doing something with the intention to be negative and low vibrational, or positive and high vibrational, because it all comes back to you.

Skeptical, I nagged her to at least try. Finally she did and his responses (after six months) got longer, his resentment slowly but surely dissipating. He told her more than what she expected to hear and still she wasn’t happy.

“Because you’re living in the past, what was. And the future, what you want it to be, but you aren’t present.”

“You’re right,” she replied, “Even though we aren’t together, right now he loves me and I love him.”
“And if things should change you’ll worry about it when it comes. At least he’s talking to you again.”
All that matters is she had today and she had flowers.

Are you missing your blessings because you aren’t grounded in the present? What past are you reliving? What future are you hoping for? Are you willing to do the work to be here now? Why or why not? I recommend you read The Power Of Now. Artist: Zeppelin Moon
