After hearing about Mia Goth’s legal drama I wanted to see what was going on. The only film I’d seen the actress in prior was Nymphomaniac by Lars Von Trier. What I learned after devouring this horror trilogy over the weekend is: Ti West is absolutely brilliant and Mia Goth is one of the best actresses of all time. Absolutely blown away.

Cinema if done properly, like all good art, is suppose to transform you, change you, transport you, expand your universe by shattering expectations through good storytelling. Who I was before watching X The Movie is not who I am today. What a fucking ride, to continually surprise the audience without losing the integrity of the story is no small feat. As I said in my Instagram post for this blog, I thought Maxine was reminiscent of Emily Meade’s character in The Deuce. A small town girl wanting to be famous even if it’s through avant-garde porn. Nope, nope, all is not what it seems as Howard Suber would say (read The Power Of Film Explains It All). The plot is so original, if you gave me a play by play synopsis, I wouldn’t believe you. Side note: Brittany Snow managing to fit a pitch perfect moment into a horror porn film took me over the edge, she gonna get her song in.

The scene in Pearl, where she argues with her mother is one of the best I’ve ever seen. Tandi Wright’s phenomenal. Top tier acting, writing, cinematography, production. It’s taking everything not to make this a dissertation. Fucking art. How have more people not dressed as Pearl or Maxine for Halloween? Thank you to everyone involved for this quality work. After realizing Mick Jagger could inflict cancer and kill it dawned on me…Keith Richards is impervious. Try as he might and lord knows he’s tried for literal decades, Keith Richards is untouchable. I’m talking drug overdoses, electrocution, falling from trees as an old man…NOTHING! This nigga is dead in his eighties and didn’t even catch COVID-19. He’s the only one in the band who can stand up to Mick without consequence (read Revelation 1: Mick Jagger Is Satan). Who is Satan’s equal opposite? Archangel Michael! He even looks like the Byzantine renderings.

Yes the two most prolific angels in history are the leaders of The Rolling Stones, explaining their constant contention. Two group members couldn’t be more notorious for their fights. Heaven is all about music, everything is all about balance (that I’ll expand in another revelation). The Rolling Stones embodied that when Charlie Watts was still kicking, but as I’ve stated numerous times the balance between good and evil is off as of 2020, skewing towards the latter, causing the world to spiral to the end. Perhaps I’ve never understood myself more than Howard Suber explaining the patterns and overarching themes that make films timeless. Why do we, as a culture, rewatch certain movies repeatedly? What makes them forever relevant? If you are to understand anything going on, start by watching The Power Of Film on HBOMax. You don’t have to take color coordinated notes like me, that’s that ElRo! ElRo! But pay attention to: heroes vs. villains, seizing control of your destiny, power of paradox, love and meaning, chimera, triangulation, and compare it to what you’re seeing now via me.

Apocalypse in Greek means revelation, all is not what it seems. Things appear a certain way, but it isn’t so. The book of revelations is the most popular biblically. Howard Suber made me aware that we are living this moment. Storytelling is everything to humanity, expressions of souls, parables of the universal laws are found there. Growing up we had this forest green treasure chest, with gold trimming, filled with movies. Causing me to view them as sacred. Going to the video store was sacred.
